The Museum of Fine Arts (MSK) Ghent approached us with a concern that hat younger audiences were no longer engaging with classical paintings. and preferred visiting S.M.A.K., the contemporary art museum located right next door. That’s why we created Travellers Pallet, one of the interactive installations of Museum Night Ghent 2023. 

Our intentions were to make visitors interested in landscapes of the past. The paintings in the room where like snapshots of the past, captured by Flemish painters in the 16th Century. At the time, travel was uncommon, and it was only painters that could show the public what different landscapes looked like.

Travellers Palette links two major paintings in the room through a projection of visitor-created artwork. This encourages them to interact with the room and become like the 16th century painter.
